About the project
Public spaces are the glue that holds communities together. Walkable, accessible, well-designed open spaces can allow people to relax, exercise, meet, play, chat, connect and enjoy the natural environment.
The ACT Government will refresh Fraser Oval to provide a safe, fun and accessible space for learning and play for students at Fraser Primary School, and the wider community outside of school hours.
This project will deliver a natural open space that promotes a healthier lifestyle for students and the community. It will be an engaging space for students at Fraser Primary School to access and enjoy as part of their learning. Outside of school hours, this public space will enable the wider community to relax, exercise and connect.
What We Heard
We invited the wider community, including children and young people, to have their say to help shape the future elements of this space. Our intention is to refresh this open public space creating a natural environment for all ages to access and enjoy. We sought some early ideas from the students at Fraser Primary School as well as Traditional Owners (through Thunderstone) on what is important to them in this new space.
We would like to thank all those who provided feedback during the community consultation phase of the Fraser Oval Refresh Project.
The feedback provided by Traditional Owners, students, staff, parents, and other members of the community is detailed in the What We Heard Report.
What We Heard Report is now available
The impact of having your say
The ACT Government will use the What We Heard Report to inform decisions made in the design phase of the project with the community’s interests in mind. The procurement process has commenced for a designer, and draft designs will be shared with the community on this page for feedback before they are finalised. The Fraser Oval Refresh Project works are expected to commence during the 2026 school year.
